3rd Meeting / 08 - 12 April 2019
The work of the 3rd meeting of the European Erasmus+ Programme 2018-2020 entitled "Food Ethos EDucation in Schools" was crowned with absolute success, which took place in Sopuerta in the Bilbao region between 08-12/04/2019.
It was his turn in the Basque country to welcome the participants of the above-mentioned pre-letter from Turkey, Cyprus, Slovakia, Velestino Magnesia and Aiani High School. This meeting was attended by 10 teachers and 13 students from the schools of the above countries.
The teachers were initially warmly welcomed by the Director
of the School of Sopuerta who referred to the importance of the programme and the need for the adoption of an intercultural culture by all European peoples and concluded his speech by giving information on the school, how it works and its importance for the region.
The school staff then welcomed visitors to the school grounds with school pupils presenting traditional dances and the pupils' parents presenting lunch to all attendees.
As part of the program, participants toured the cultural wonder called Bilbao, a city unknown 15 years ago and now a cultural pillar of Northern Spain with the creation of the Guggenheim Museum, visited the famous seaside town of San Sebastian / Donostia, the rock Gastelugatx , the location where Game of Thrones was filmed, the Basque beret factory that supplied the entire Spanish army and the chocolate factory in the medieval town of Balmaseda, where they were guided and briefed by department heads on how to produce, maintain and distribute products.
They tasted the traditional Basque food, the bean soup with meat, in a special meal given for the missions by the local Balmaseda organizations and attended the rehearsals for the big procession of the live representation of the Passion of Holy Week, where all the inhabitants participate and is a polo every year throughout Spain.
Teachers and students attended a series of experiential seminars, lectures, activities and workshops on nutritional values and completed the work with the scheduled luncheon of the students of the visiting countries to the hosts.
Following the program teachers and students, hosts and guests, in working meetings determined the next actions, moves and tasks that should be done in order to produce the desired result of the program
On the last day, after the appointment for the next destination was renewed – Slovakia, students and teachers left for their place with beautiful memories of this meeting.
