2nd Meeting / 10 - 15 February 2019
The 2nd meeting of the European Erasmus+ 2018-2020 project entitled "Food Ethos EDucation in Schools" was crowned with absolute success in Aiani from 10/02/2019 to 15/02/2019.
It was the turn of Aianis High School to welcome the participants of the above-mentioned program from Turkey, Cyprus, Slovakia, Spain and Velestino Magnesia. The second meeting was attended by 10 teachers and 12 students from the schools of the above countries.
The teachers were initially warmly welcomed by the Mayor of Kozani, Mr. Lefteris Ioannidis, who referred to the importance of the programme and the need for the adoption of an intercultural culture by all European peoples and concluded his speech by giving information about the Municipality of Kozani and the wider region of Regional Unity.
Afterwards, the staff of the school, the Director of the Regional Unit of Kozani Mrs. Vasiliki Vontsa and representatives of the local government, welcomed the visitors to the school with the students of the Gymnasium of Aianis who presented traditional dances and the parents of the students to present lunch to all the attendees.
Within the framework of the program, participants visited the food production plants "alfa ATHANASIOS D. KOUKOUTARIS S.A." and "AFOI A. PITENI S.A." in which they were guided and informed by the managers of the departments on how to produce, maintain and distribute the products.
Following the program teachers and students, hosts and guests, attended monasteries in Meteora, Kalampaka, where, among other things, they were informed by the monks about the monastic diet.
On the penultimate day of the program, the guests were impressed not only by the multitude and richness of the findings of the Archaeological Museum of Aianis, but also by the eloquence of the students of the Gymnasium, who toured them and showed them the Educational Programs of the Museum in English. This was followed by a speech in English on the plant residues of the diet in prehistoric times.
Finally, the participants had the unique opportunity to be introduced to the world of archaeology with the presentation of seeds, which were preserved until today in the archaeological layers through carbonization and come from prehistoric settlements of the Prefecture of Kozani. At noon, the award-winning chef, Mrs. Gaboura, cooked and presented traditional dishes and dishes in the area of Aianis High School, which should be part of a healthy breakfast.
The next day, after the appointment for Spain was renewed, in a particularly emotional atmosphere, students and teachers left for their place with the most beautiful memories and impressions.
